EMPOWERING AT-RISK CHILDREN IN GRASSE, FRANCE
Although France is world-renowned for its scenic charm and culinary richness, far too many disadvantaged children grow up in French culture excluded from the resources to succeed and with a lack of hope for their future.
“Parfums de Vie” means “fragrance of life”.
Parfums de Vie provides a compassionate response to the poverty, exclusion and neglect faced by many disadvantaged children, youth and their families in Grasse, France, the historic perfume capital of the world.

Nicole & Vincent Derieux founded Parfums de Vie in 2008, after moving to Grasse, France and witnessing the poverty and exclusion faced by children in their community. It started from humble beginnings as a weekly kids club in their home.

Your Impact: Meet Narjes
Narjes began to struggle in grade school due to the challenges of her precarious living situation and complicated family circumstances. She entered the Parfums de Vie program over ten years ago and soon went from failing to being the top student in her class. By 9th grade, her grades were so exceptional that she qualified to attend an elite French boarding school, where she earned a Science Baccalaureate (the French High School Diploma) in 2020 and graduated with honors.
Now 23 years old, Narjes speaks English fluently, in addition to French and Arabic. This year, she achieved a remarkable milestone, earning a BSc (Honours) in Neuroscience from the University of St. Andrews, the top university in Scotland. Building on this incredible achievement, Narjes is now pursuing a Master’s in Cognitive Sciences at Lyon Lumière II, furthering her passion for understanding the human mind and its potential for growth and healing.
Her dream remains to return to work alongside the Parfums de Vie team, using her education to help children who have experienced similar trauma. She hopes to guide them on their path to healing and growth, inspiring them to develop into healthy, thriving adults.
Today, Narjes is not only a mentor and a leader to younger students at Parfums de Vie but also a beacon of hope. The children look up to her and the other older students who are excelling, and they begin to imagine a brighter future for themselves. It is truly wonderful to see a child realize that their future can be so much more.
There are currently nine university students who have come through the Parfums de Vie program and are now studying at prestigious institutions, including La Sapienza in Rome, the University of Strasbourg, and universities in Nice. By partnering with Parfums de Vie, you can play a vital role in supporting young men and women like Narjes as they pursue their university education and build brighter futures.

Your Impact: Meet Momo
When Momo first came to Parfums de Vie, he suffered sleeplessness and night terrors as a result of the trauma of his early childhood. Since coming to Parfums de Vie, Momo has found a safe place to learn, grow, and be accepted. We’ve witnessed such a transformation in his emotional well-being and he is now able to befriend and encourage other kids who have experienced trauma.
Like Momo, so many of the children we serve at Parfums de Vie go to bed at night with more worries and fears than they should have to carry at their age.
Having a peaceful and loving environment they look forward to going to each day, with supportive friendships and kind adults provides the ability to heal from the trauma they’ve experienced.
